About Us

Ryan Mercaldo & Worthington LLP was established on September 1, 2004 by partners Norman Ryan, Marco Mercaldo and Brian Worthington. Mr. Ryan and Mr. Worthington are both licensed to practice law in California and Nevada and Mr. Mercaldo is licensed to practice law in California and Arizona. Ryan Venci joined the partnership on January 1, 2009 and practices law in Nevada. On February 1, 2011, we were pleased to announce the partnerships of Timothy White and Jeffrey Carvalho who both practice law in California.

Our Partners

In addition to being our Firm’s Managing Partner, Norman Ryan is active in his community and involved in youth sports. He serves on the Board of Directors of his daughter’s high school Foundation and is also on the Tierrasanta Park & Recreation Council. He is a retired Captain from the United States Navy Reserve. Mr. Ryan is originally from Iowa, graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and obtained his law degree from the University of Iowa and practices law in both California and Nevada. In June 2011, Mr. Ryan was named as a California Super Lawyer.

Marco Mercaldo is originally from Arizona, graduated from the University of Arizona, obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and practices law in both California and Arizona. Mr. Mercaldo enjoys spending his free time with his wife and three children and he is a former NCAA tennis player.

Brian Worthington is from Wisconsin and after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin, he obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and practices in both California and Nevada. Mr. Worthington specializes in Insurance Coverage and Appellate Law. He is also an accomplished trumpet player and has often played for and internationally toured with the New York Philharmonic Symphony. In addition to his musical talents, Mr. Worthington is also an avid sports fan and a member of the University of Wisconsin’s Alumni Association in San Diego.

Ryan Venci is our partner residing in Las Vegas. He is originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin and after he graduated from the University of Minnesota, he obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law and has practiced law in Nevada since 2000.

Jeffrey Carvalho is originally from Mattapoisett, MA, graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 1997 and relocated to San Diego where he attended the University of San Diego School of Law and received his Juris Doctorate in 2001. He was also a member of the Air National Guard from 1991-1997. Mr. Carvalho’s practice focuses on several areas related to insurance defense; construction defect where he represents developers, general contractors and subcontractors in a wide variety of trades throughout California; personal injury; property damage; business clients; and general civil litigation. Being from Massachusetts, he is an avid Boston sports fan, enjoys many outdoor activities, reading about history and spending time with family and friends. He volunteers with Easter Seals which assists over a million children and adults living with autism and other disabilities or special needs.

Timothy White was born in San Diego, CA and graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.A. in 1998. He graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 2002. Mr. White primarily handles Civil Litigation, Construction Defect, Employment, Insurance Defense, Personal Injury and Transportation Law.
